Ruffled Feathers

Our Chickens are fed an organic feed.
Free range. Cage Free.
Loved on Daily!
Our eggs are collected throughout the day. They are brought in and looked over. Clean eggs go into the egg cartons and kept on the counter. We eat the dirty ones!
Eggs straight from the chicken to your home have bloom (a protective layer). Bloom helps keep the bacteria out of the eggshell and the egg itself. You can store farm fresh chicken eggs on the countertop for a month and they will still be good. At that point, you may want to start moving them to the fridge. Keeping eggs at room temperature is a good thing. This keeps eggs at the right temp for cooking too. Eggs stored on the countertop are safe to eat. We eat them Daily!

We have a few different breeds of chickens.
Our eggs are a rainbow of colors including brown, light brown, a few darker brown and blue.

Our Ducks - Indian Runners
Free Range. Cage Free.

Our ducks are all Indian Runners with the exception of one. Don't tell her that though. Indian Runners are like feathered bowling pins. One fun fact is Runners cannot fly. They do run pretty quickly. We currently have 14 ducks. 2 are drakes (male) and 12 are females. They lay eggs almost daily until winter. The eggs are larger than store bought chicken eggs. They are mostly white and occasionally a light blue. Our ducks are not as clean as chickens, that means their eggs aren't either. All of our duck eggs are washed and placed in the fridge. Duck eggs after refrigeration are good for 3-4 weeks.
Duck eggs are wonderful for baking. They make great deviled eggs!
